How and when should I register

Registrations are now open for 2024/2025 season. Please click on the register tab in the menu and register ideally before mid October.

Can I get to know a bit more about the club?

We are having a muster day on Sunday 20 October from 10 – 12pm open to anyone interested in playing cricket for Albion. There will be games for the kids, people to answer your questions and just in general an opportunity for you to learn more about what the club offers and how it works. No need to register – just come along. Alternatively feel free to email any queries to albioncricketpractise@gmail.com

 

How old does my child need to be?

There are cricket opportunities for children aged from year 1 through to year 8.

 

I want to get involved as a coach or manager or scorer

We welcome enthusiastic parents who wish to coach, manage or score. Learning resources and club support is available. Please let us know at time of registering your child in the registration form.

 

What gear will my child need?

 The club provides each team with all the gear your child requires (bats, pads, gloves etc…)  included an Albion playing shirt. You will need to provide white shorts or trousers for your child.

 

Why choose Albion?

 Albion is one of the largest junior clubs in the bay of plenty with between 130 – 160 children playing for it each season and has a . It’s home ground is Fergusson Park which has outstanding facilities including the most modern net facilities of any junior club in the Bay of Plenty.

 

My child want to be in their friends team

 We will do our best to accommodate requests but as children get into the older age groups, teams are based on ability appropriate to the grade the team is playing in.

When does the season start

 Western Bay of Plenty Cricket's Junior Summer 2024/25 Season will begin on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 and continue to Saturday, 14th December 2024. 
In 2025, the Term 1  season will commence on Saturday, 8th February up to and including Saturday, 29th of March. 

 

Is there a break for summer holidays

 Yes – there is no cricket or practices from the 15th December 2024 until the week prior to the 8th February 2025

 

Is there a girls team?

 Depending on registered numbers there may be up to 2 girls teams who will likely play hard ball cricket. If numbers allow we may have x1 softball and x1 hardball team. Years 4-9 girls generally play in these teams.

 

My son/daughter hasn’t played before?

 Not a problem – the club is keen to get them involved and loving cricket and will get them playing in a skill appropriate team.

 

How do I keep up to date?

 Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for updates. We also send out regular emails to all registered players.

 

When are the games played and for how long?

 Games take up to 2 hours a  Saturday morning for years 1 – 4 – expanding  up to 4 hours by the intermediate year.

 

My child is year 8? Can they play term 4 only?

 Yes – we try to have a full team of year 8’s that will finish with the club at the end of the calander year as they head of to college or youth clubs.

 

Where are the games played.

Albion's home ground is Fergusson Park in Matua and for years 1 – 4 all games will be held here. As children play in the higher grades in years 5 – 8 there will be travel as far as Katikati and Papamoa when not at Fergusson Park.
